Version 7, 2026-09-27.

These files are free to use when you are referring to Rova, listing us as a partner, or
putting us on your artwork. Questions, or anything this kit does not cover:

WHAT CHANGED IN VERSION 7
-------------------------
Version 7 fixes the two SVG knockouts (rova-mark-white-v3.svg, rova-mark-black-v3.svg). The
traced outline had a stray control point at the top edge of the R's counter, which drew a
hairline wedge running right from the hole. The outline is otherwise unchanged. The PNG
knockouts never had it (they are cut from the master artwork, not traced), so they keep
their version 2 names.

WHAT CHANGED IN VERSION 6
-------------------------
Version 6 changes one file: the LIGHT-BACKGROUND MARK (rova-mark-light-v3). It is now simply
the regular mark, untouched. The previous light variant darkened and re-tinted the gold so it
would measure above 3:1 on white; we would rather you see the real mark. Its dark body carries
it on a light page by itself. It is placed exactly where the old file placed it (identical
outline, pixel for pixel), so a layout built on the old file does not move.

Everything else is as in version 5, below.

WHAT CHANGED IN VERSION 5, AND WHY THE OTHER FILENAMES DID NOT MOVE
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 5 changes exactly one file: the BADGE. Its tile now uses the same warm gold gradient
as the Rova app icon instead of brand black, so the badge and the app icon on your phone are
visibly the same brand.

Two things had to change with the background, both for legibility:

  1. The wordmark "Rova" is now brand black. The old gold wordmark would disappear into a
gold tile; black on this gold measures at least 5.4:1 at the tile's darkest point and
     about 18:1 at its lightest.
  2. The keyline is now deep amber (#c47307), the gradient's own darkest colour. A gold
keyline is invisible on a gold tile, and without one the tile's pale top-left corner
     would melt into white paper.

Nothing else about the badge moved: the mark, its glow, the optically fitted letter spacing
from version 4, the proportions and the 3:1 shape are unchanged, and every size and minimum
on this sheet still holds.

Nothing else in the kit changed at all, so the dark mark is still the version 3 file and the
two knockouts and the solid mark are still the version 2 files. That is
deliberate. A file whose bytes have not changed keeps its name and its address; only a file
that actually changed gets a new one. If you already have those, they are current.

(Version 4 spaced the wordmark's letters optically, by the actual ink of each pair, so that
all three pairs clear 9 to 11% of the cap height. Version 5 keeps that spacing exactly.)

THE ONE RULE THAT MATTERS
-------------------------
WHEN IN DOUBT, USE THE BADGE (rova-badge-v5-*.png).

The badge carries its own gold background and amber keyline, so it holds together on
any artwork, photo or colour. It is the only file that cannot fail against a background we
do not control. Reach for a bare, transparent mark only when you know exactly what is
behind it.

WHAT THE MARK IS, AND WHY THESE ARE RASTER FILES
------------------------------------------------
The Rova mark is a glossy three-dimensional letterform: a sculpted gold bowl over a dark
body, with layered gradients and specular highlights. It is not a flat shape with an
outline, and it is not a two-colour drawing.

Because of that, we supply it as HIGH-RESOLUTION RASTER (PNG), not as vector. A vector
trace of a rendered 3D object cannot carry gradients and highlights; it flattens the mark
into solid patches and stops looking like the logo. We would rather give you an honest PNG
than a vector that misrepresents the brand.

THE ONE EXCEPTION: the white and black knockouts are single-colour silhouettes, so a
curve-fitted outline IS a faithful representation of them. Those two, and only those two,
also ship as SVG and are genuinely scalable to any size.

MAXIMUM USABLE SIZE (please read before sending anything to print)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The mark's master artwork holds 622 x 597 pixels of real detail. That is a hard ceiling:
everything in this kit is produced from it, and no file can contain more detail than the
master has.

What that means in practice, at 300 dpi:

Bare mark honest up to about 53 mm / 2.1 in wide
Badge honest up to about 228 mm / 9.0 in wide

The files named "-print" are supplied at exactly that ceiling with a 300 dpi tag, so they
are 1:1 with the master and contain no upscaling at all. Hand a printer one of those.

  rova-mark-dark-v3-print.png 833 x 833 px 300 dpi (mark is 622 px = 52.7 mm)
  rova-mark-*-v2/v3-print.png 833 x 833 px 300 dpi (mark is 622 px = 52.7 mm)
  rova-badge-v5-print.png 2688 x 896 px 300 dpi (228 mm wide)

One disclosure, so nobody is surprised: in the 1024 px mark PNGs the mark is placed at
764 px wide, which is 1.23x the master's 622 px of real detail. It is resampled up with a
Lanczos filter, not invented, and it is the largest mark PNG we ship. Every other file in
the kit sits at or below the master's native detail.

NEED IT BIGGER? Ask us. We can re-render the mark from the 3D source at whatever size you
need, which is a genuinely better file than anything you can make by enlarging these.
Please do not upscale a PNG yourself, and please do not screenshot the logo off the website.

WHICH FILE DO I USE?
--------------------
Unsure, or placing on someone's artwork ........ rova-badge-v5
Dark background, above 64 px ................... rova-mark-dark-v3
Light background, above 64 px .................. rova-mark-light-v3
Under about 64 px: favicons, app rows, strips .. rova-mark-solid-v2
One colour only: print, engraving, stamps ...... rova-mark-white-v2 / rova-mark-black-v2

rova-badge-v5 The mark and the black Rova wordmark on the app icon's gold gradient
tile with an amber keyline. Brings its own background. THE DEFAULT
                      HAND-OUT.

rova-mark-dark-v3 The bare mark with its gold glow, transparent background, for DARK
backgrounds. The glow is not decoration: the mark has a dark body, so
without it the letter sinks into black and navy and only a gold
crescent survives. Do not remove it. It also sits well on the Rova
tile gold (the badge and app icon background).

rova-mark-light-v3 The same mark, untouched, for LIGHT backgrounds: transparent, no glow
(a gold glow only helps on dark grounds; on white it reads as a smudge)
and no re-tinting. The dark body carries it on white.

rova-mark-white-v2 Solid white, one colour, no gradient. Dark or busy backgrounds, and
one-colour print. Also supplied as SVG.

rova-mark-black-v2 Solid black, one colour, no gradient. Light backgrounds, faxes,
stamps, engraving, one-colour print. Also supplied as SVG.

rova-mark-solid-v2 The R as one solid gold silhouette. Use this below about 64 px. At
small sizes the gold edge and the gloss on the normal mark fall below
the rendering threshold and the letter goes muddy; this one does not.
It also survives a busy photograph better than any other bare mark.

MINIMUM SIZES
-------------
Badge ............................ 120 px wide absolute floor, 160 px or more recommended.
Below 120 px the wordmark closes up.
Mark, dark or light .............. 64 px. Below that the gold edge thins out and the glow
                                     swallows the letter.
Solid mark, white and black ...... 24 px.
In print ......................... badge no smaller than 30 mm wide, bare mark no smaller
                                     than 16 mm.

CLEAR SPACE
-----------
Leave clear space on all four sides equal to 0.17 x the height of the mark (the height of
the R's counter, the enclosed hole in the bowl). For the badge, 0.10 x the badge height.
Nothing goes inside that margin: no text, no rules, no other logos, no edge of the page.

The supplied files already carry about 1.9x that margin inside the artwork, so placing a
file as supplied keeps you inside the rule. Measure from the visible edge of the R only if
you crop it tight.

COLOURS
-------
  Brand black #0d0c09
  Gold ramp        #120e07 -> #9f6b0b -> #fddb44 -> #fdffbc   (the mark's own gold, measured)
Brand gold #f5c518 (the glow, the solid mark)
Tile gold the app icon and badge background, a 135-degree linear gradient
                   (top-left to bottom-right):
                   #fdfac6 0% -> #fdf8c1 10% -> #fded9d 24% -> #fdda63 44% -> #f9c646 50%
                   -> #e2a128 62% -> #cd8212 76% -> #c47307 86% -> #f79e02 100%
Keyline amber #c47307 (the badge keyline; the tile gold's darkest stop)
Wordmark brand black #0d0c09, with a faint gloss (#34322e at the top-left)

One-colour uses are #ffffff or #000000 only. There is no other approved one-colour version.

PLEASE DON'T
------------
Recolour the mark, or rebuild it in your own colours.
Stretch, squash, rotate, tilt or skew it. The badge is 3:1. Keep it 3:1.
Add a glow, shadow, outline, bevel or any other effect. The dark mark's glow is already
baked into the file; do not add a second one.
Put a transparent mark on busy or light artwork. Use the badge.
Re-typeset the wordmark, or set other words to match it. The spacing in the badge is
fitted by hand-measured optical rules, not by a font's own metrics, so retyping it will
    not match.
Place the mark inside another shape.
Upscale a PNG, or screenshot the logo off the website. Take the file, or ask us.
