Rova Gold Terms
Effective October 2, 2026 · Version 2026-10-02
These Virtual Currency Terms (the “Gold Terms”) apply to everyone who buys, holds or uses Gold on Rova, on the web, in the Rova app, or anywhere else Rova offers it, and to creators who receive gifts. They are part of the Rova Terms of Service. If the two conflict on anything about Gold or gifts, these Gold Terms control. “We”, “us” and “Rova” mean Rova Inc. “You” means the person using Rova. Before your first purchase and before your first gift we ask you to confirm that you are 18 or older and that you agree to these Gold Terms.
1. What Gold is
1.1 Gold is a limited licence, not property. Gold is a virtual item you can use only to send gifts to creators on Rova. When you get Gold, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to use it on Rova under these Gold Terms. You do not own Gold, and Gold is not money, a deposit, a stored-value account, a security, a commodity, a cryptocurrency or a payment instrument.
1.2 No cash value. Gold has no cash value. It cannot be redeemed, exchanged or cashed out for money, goods, services or anything of monetary value, from Rova or anyone else, except as the law requires.
1.3 Closed loop. Gold can only be used on Rova, only by the account that bought it, and only to send gifts.
1.4 No transfers. You can't sell, trade, give, lend or otherwise transfer Gold, or transfer your account to get around this rule. You also can't buy Gold from anyone except Rova (on our website or through an app store). Gold obtained any other way may be removed without notice.
1.5 Gold never expires. Unused Gold stays in your account for as long as your account exists.
1.6 What a gift is. When you send a gift, the Gold leaves your balance and the gift is delivered right away. A gift is a voluntary act of support. It doesn't buy the creator's time, a personal service, any content or any promise. The creator receives an earnings credit (“Carats”) from Rova (section 7). Carats are Rova's own obligation to the creator; you are not paying the creator directly.
2. Who can buy and use Gold
2.1 You must be 18 or older to buy Gold, send gifts or receive gifts. We ask you to confirm your age before your first purchase and before your first gift. In the iOS app we may also use Apple's age-range signal. If we learn or have reason to believe that you are under 18, we will turn off Gold and gifting on your account.
2.2 United States only at launch. Gold is offered only to people located in the United States, using a United States App Store storefront or a United States payment method. We may refuse or reverse purchases from elsewhere.
2.3 You need a Rova account in good standing. A Rova membership is not required to buy Gold or send gifts.
3. Buying Gold
3.1 Where you can buy. You can buy Gold on rovasocial.com (payments are processed by Stripe) or, where available, inside the Rova iOS app (processed by Apple through In-App Purchase). Prices and pack sizes may differ between the two.
3.2 Prices. The price of each Gold pack is shown before you confirm the purchase. Gift prices in the gift tray are shown in Gold.
3.3 Taxes. Apple calculates and collects any tax on In-App Purchases. For purchases on our website, sales tax is calculated at checkout where we are required to collect it.
3.4 Delivery. Gold is added to your account after the payment is confirmed, usually within seconds. If a purchase doesn't show up, contact [email protected] with the date and the receipt.
3.5 Limits. To protect you and the community, you can gift up to 200,000 Gold a day (about $2,000 at web prices), website purchases are limited to $1,000 in any 24 hours ($100 for accounts less than 7 days old), and the most valuable gifts unlock only once your account is at least 7 days old, you have reached Patron III and you have a completed Gold purchase. We may change these limits.
3.6 No paid randomness. Nothing you buy with Gold has a random outcome. There are no loot boxes, lucky gifts, prize draws or random multipliers.
4. Refunds and reversed payments
4.1 All sales are final, except where the law or the app store's own rules require otherwise. Gold that has been gifted can't be returned, because the gift has been delivered.
4.2 Purchases made through Apple. Apple processes In-App Purchases and decides refund requests for them under Apple's terms. You request those refunds from Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com), not from Rova. When you ask Apple for a refund, Apple may ask us for information about the purchase. By buying Gold in the app you agree that we may tell Apple whether the Gold was delivered and used, how long you've had your account, and similar non-sensitive account facts, so Apple can decide your request.
4.3 Purchases made on the web. If something is wrong with a purchase, contact [email protected] before contacting your bank.
4.4 When a payment is reversed. If a purchase is refunded by Apple, reversed by your bank, charged back, or reported as fraudulent:
- we remove the Gold from that purchase from your balance (if you've already spent some, we remove what's left);
- we may put your Gold on hold (no buying and no gifts) while we review it; the hold is lifted if the refund is declined or reversed, or if all of the Gold was recovered;
- for a purchase made on our website, the value of any Gold from it that was already gifted and could not be recovered, together with any dispute fee, may be added to your account as a balance you owe, under the Payment disputes section of our Terms of Service, and you may not be able to use Rova until it is paid.
5. Your account and Gold
5.1 Suspension or termination. If we suspend or close your account for breaking our Terms, the Community Guidelines, the Live Gifting Community Rules or these Gold Terms (including fraud or abuse of gifting), you lose access to your Gold and it is not refunded, except where the law requires.
5.2 If you delete your account, any unused Gold is forfeited.
5.3 Mistakes. If Gold or Carats are added to an account by mistake (for example, a technical error), we may correct the balance.
5.4 Changes to Gold. We may change how Gold works, the gift catalogue, prices for future purchases, or limits, and we will give reasonable notice of material changes. If we ever stop offering Gold entirely, we will give at least 60 days' notice so you can use your Gold.
6. Leaderboards and anonymity
Gifts you send may appear in the live room and on its leaderboard with your name and supporter level (“Patron”). You can choose to send a gift anonymously, in which case it shows as “A Patron” and does not count toward your public Patron level.
7. Creators and Carats
7.1 Who can receive gifts. At launch, gifts can be sent only to verified creators and Rova Founders who are 18 or older and in good standing.
7.2 Carats. For every 1 Gold gifted to you, Rova credits you with 1 Carat (1.2 Carats for Signature creators). 1 Carat is worth $0.005. Carats are an earnings credit from Rova, not Gold: they can't be spent, gifted or transferred.
7.3 Holds and reversals. Carats are held for 14 days before they can be paid out. We may reverse Carats that came from Gold that was refunded, charged back, obtained by fraud or sent in breach of the gifting rules.
7.4 Payouts are coming soon. Cash-out is not available yet. Before it opens we will publish Creator Earnings & Payout Terms and email eligible creators; payouts will need identity and tax information through our payment provider. Until then, Carats you earn stay credited to your account.
8. Fraud and misuse
You may not use Gold or gifting to launder money, to move value to someone outside Rova, to pay for anything off Rova, or with stolen or unauthorised payment methods. You may not send gifts to yourself or to accounts you control. We monitor for this, and we may reverse gifts and Carats, hold balances, close accounts and report activity to law enforcement or our payment partners.
