Gold and Gifts FAQ
The plain-language companion to the Rova Gold Terms. If anything here differs from the Terms, the Terms control.
For viewers
What is Gold?
Gold is what you use to send gifts to creators during live streams on Rova. You buy it in packs on rovasocial.com/gold.
How much does Gold cost?
On the web, 100 Gold costs about $1, and bigger packs include bonus Gold. The exact price of each pack is shown before you pay. Packs bought in the iPhone app (where available) are priced by Apple and cost more per Gold because of Apple's fee.
Why does the gift tray only show Gold, not dollars?
Gifts are priced in Gold, like “25k Gold”. The real price is shown when you buy a Gold pack.
Does Gold expire?
No. Unused Gold stays in your account for as long as you have an account.
Can I get cash back for my Gold, or give it to a friend?
No. Gold has no cash value, can't be cashed out, and can't be transferred to anyone else. It can only be used to send gifts on Rova.
Do I need to be a Rova member?
No. Anyone 18 or older with a Rova account can buy Gold and send gifts.
Why do you ask if I'm 18?
Gold and gifts are only for adults. Before your first purchase and your first gift you tick one box: “I'm 18 or older and I agree to the Gold Terms”. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we turn off Gold and gifting on it.
Is there any chance or luck involved?
No. Every gift is exactly what it says. There are no loot boxes, lucky gifts, prize draws or random multipliers.
Is there a limit on how much I can gift?
Yes. You can gift up to 200,000 Gold a day. The biggest gifts unlock once your account is at least 7 days old, you've reached Patron III, and you've completed a Gold purchase.
Can I send a gift anonymously?
Yes. Turn on “Anonymous” in the gift tray and you'll show as “A Patron”.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases are final, and gifts can't be returned once delivered. For purchases made in the iPhone app, Apple handles refund requests at reportaproblem.apple.com. For web purchases, contact [email protected] before your bank.
What happens if a purchase is refunded or charged back?
We remove the Gold from that purchase, and your Gold may be put on hold while we review it. For a web purchase, if Gold from it was already gifted, the value we couldn't recover (and any dispute fee) may be added to your account as a balance you need to pay.
Does my gift go to the creator?
The creator earns Carats from Rova for every gift: about half of the gift's web price (60% for Signature creators). Rova pays creators directly.
For creators
Who can receive gifts?
At launch, verified creators and Rova Founders who are 18 or older. If you are eligible but haven't confirmed your age yet, confirm it once on rovasocial.com/gold.
How much do I earn?
1 Carat for every 1 Gold gifted to you, and 1 Carat is worth $0.005: about 50% of the gift's web price. Signature creators earn 1.2 Carats per Gold (60%).
When do I get paid?
Payouts are coming soon, and we'll email you when cash-out opens. Carats are held for 14 days after each gift; your earnings show what is pending and what is available.
Can I turn my Carats into Gold?
Yes. Carats that have finished their 14-day hold convert into Gold at 2 Carats for 1 Gold. Converted Gold works like any Gold: you can send it as gifts, it never expires, and it can't be cashed out or refunded. See section 7.5 of the Gold Terms.
What if a viewer's payment is reversed?
We may reverse the Carats from that gift.
What am I not allowed to do?
Beg or pressure viewers, offer anything in exchange for gifts, run raffles or giveaways tied to gifts, ask for payment off Rova, or feature minors. See the Live Gifting Community Rules.
